Alexander Jones specializes in all areas of domestic relations, ranging from negotiating divorce agreements outside of court to the litigation of domestic relations proceedings at both the trial and appellate levels. He is able to assist clients with the division of assets, child support and alimony, tax advice and resolving child custody disputes. Alex has also been appointed by various Justices of the Probate and Family Court to serve as a Guardian ad Litem, a parent coordinator and a discovery master.
Prior to joining Looney & Grossman, Alex practiced family law at a boutique law firm in Boston and in the Massachusetts office of a national law firm. He also clerked for two years for the Justices of the Massachusetts Probate and Family Courts.
Alex is actively involved in the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (“AFCC”), an international interdisciplinary organization of lawyers, judges and mental health professionals dedicated to improving the court process for children. Alex was the President of the Massachusetts Chapter of AFCC during 2008-2009, has been an active board member of the Massachusetts Chapter since 2004, currently holding the role of Treasurer, and has assisted in planning annual conferences since 2003. Alex has presented at AFCC conferences at both a local and national level and was active in developing the strategic planning process for the AFCC. Alex has also been a member of the Boston Bar Association’s Family Law Steering Committee since 2006 and is the past Chair of the Family Law Section’s Amicus Committee. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Family Law Section.
Alex is a 1996 honors graduate of Binghamton University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 2000 he graduated with dual degrees from Boston College Law School and Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. At Boston College Law School he received the West Publishing Award for outstanding academic achievement, the Boston College Graduate Student Association’s Graduate Student Award from Boston College Law School and the Boston College Law School Alumni Association’s Meritorious Student Award.
Alex has been named a Massachusetts Rising Star in the legal profession by Super Lawyers each year since 2005.
