Looney & Grossman believes service to the community is a critical component to the practice of law. From its inception, the firm has devoted its talent, time, and resources to community service. In 1968, Bill Looney and other members of Boston's legal profession organized the Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights under the Law of the Boston Bar Association. At its inception, Looney & Grossman made space available for the offices of that organization. In 2003, Bill Looney along with the Committee's founders were recognized for this extraordinary endeavor at the Committee's 35th Anniversary Gala.

Looney & Grossman has continually provided pro bono or reduced fee representation to individuals and organizations that strive to advance community related issues.

Looney & Grossman's pro bono efforts have varied from providing legal representation to clients who cannot afford representation to serving on the boards of agencies, which provide services to children. Most recently, Stewart F. Grossman formed and is President of the Red Auerbach Youth Foundation Inc., which supports innercity children in after-school athletic programs.

In 2003, Looney & Grossman received the Coast Guard Public Service Award for "extraordinary commitment to providing legal services to Coast Guard personnel and their dependents." The commendation describes Looney & Grossman as the "only law firm in the country to provide such services through a formal agreement. Members of Looney & Grossman have provided invaluable assistance by handling numerous complex and urgent matters… involving complex family law issues, estate planning for Coast Guard members with special needs children, complete probate matters, consumer law issues, Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Right Act issues and landlord-tenant issues."

Looney & Grossman has continually provided pro bono or reduced fee representation to individuals and organizations that strive to advance community related issues. Throughout the year, Looney & Grossman attorneys and staff sponsor events, participate in charitable walks, and volunteer at many nonprofit organizations.
