Looney & Grossman was organized in August 1965 by four former assistant
United States attorneys. William F. Looney. Jr., one of the four founding
attorneys, is a role model for the firm's attorneys and a highly respected
trial attorney within the legal community. Stewart Grossman joined the
firm as an Associate in 1973 and has established himself as a highly regarded
bankruptcy attorney.
In the first 20 years of its existence, Looney & Grossman was primarily
engaged in litigation, both criminal and civil, in State courts in Massachusetts
and in many Federal courts around the country. The firm became well known
for its successes in areas including state and federal white collar criminal
practice, bankruptcy litigation, corporate mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy
reorganizations and workouts of distressed businesses.
As the diversity of clients evolved over the years, Looney & Grossman
has expanded its range of services to meet those needs. The firm has developed
a substantial business practice including sophisticated business transactions,
real estate matters, and estate planning
and administration. In addition, the firm has added the specialized services
of admiralty and transportation law as well as expertise in the restaurant
and food industry.
