Patricia Saint James specializes in the area of domestic relations. Her practice in this area is sophisticated, characterized by complex litigation involving valuation of assets, custody disputes, tax analysis and jurisdictional issues, as well as the drafting of Divorce Agreements and Pre-Nuptial Agreements. A past chair of the Family Law Section of the Boston Bar Association, she has worked extensively with the Massachusetts Legislature, the Courts and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue to shape legislation, train other lawyers and enhance the practice of family law in the Commonwealth. She co-authored the chapter on valuation for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Divorce Law Practice manual, and is often called upon to teach seminars in the areas of business valuation, taxation, jurisdiction and real estate, and to serve as a special master in complex business disputes.
Pat also has a diverse transactional real estate practice. She has broad experience in both commercial and residential projects and represents developers and lending institutions in the acquisition, development, management, and sale of land, involving office and commercial properties, shopping malls, condominiums, and hotels. Before practicing at Looney & Grossman LLP, Pat was extensively involved in the representation of public utility companies on the corporate side of divestiture transactions, from the initial bidding process, through the drafting of the purchase and sale agreements, to the closings. In that capacity, she was responsible for overseeing team members throughout the country in all pertinent practice areas, including real estate, environmental, land use, regulatory and financing.
Last year, Pat completed the MCLE’s four-day, thirty-hour family law mediation workshop. This training enables her to serve as a domestic relations mediator in compliance with the Commonwealth’s requirements under Rule 8 of the Uniform Rules of Dispute Resolution.
Pat was born in Hartford, CT and received her degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School (J.D., 1985; Arthur Littleton Legal Scholar). She was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1985. She also is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.
Pat is the past Chair of the Family Law Section of the Boston Bar Association and a member of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation. She has also served as a member of the Boston Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Steering Committee and Children’s Task Force. She is a current member of the Boston and Massachusetts Bar Associations and the Massachusetts Family and Probate Inn of Court. Pat is on the Board of Trustees of the Arts & Business Council. She has been designated a "Super Lawyer" by Boston Magazine, and is AV-rated® by the Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory, its highest rating for legal ability and professional ethics. Pat has also been named a Readers' Choice Top 10 Lawyer by the Boston Women's Business Journal. |
