Patrick McAleer’s practice encompasses civil litigation in state and federal courts with a focus on maritime and transportation law. He represents commercial and recreational vessel owners and operators, marinas, shipyards, professional mariners, marine trades providers and boat haulers with matters involving insurance defense, litigation, salvage, administrative proceedings and commercial transactions. Patrick also provides counsel to various marine insurance clients with respect to insurance coverage and marine salvage.
Attorney McAleer is admitted to practice before the courts for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He is a member of the Boston Bar Association, the Propeller Club Port of Boston, the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association, the Transportation Lawyers Association, the Connecticut Maritime Association and the Boston Harbor Port Operator’s Group. He has been designated a Proctor in Admiralty by the Maritime Law Association of the United States. Patrick has been selected as a Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Star each year since 2009 in the areas of transportation and maritime law.
Patrick received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College and a Juris Doctorate degree from Suffolk University Law School. While attending Suffolk Law, Patrick served as a law clerk for the United States First Coast Guard District Legal Office.
Prior to practicing law, Patrick was employed in the marine industry delivering, racing, refitting and crewing onboard sailing and motor vessels throughout the East Coast and Southern Atlantic. Patrick holds a United States Coast Guard Limited Master License with sailing and commercial towing endorsements. He currently serves as a member of the Executive Board of Directors for Sail Salem, Inc., a non-profit community boating center located on Winter Island in Salem, Massachusetts. |
