The practice of Richard J. Grahn involves primarily litigation related to governmental enforcement actions and related claims in both civil and criminal proceedings. He represents companies, other organizations, and individuals in a broad range of investigations, including transportation, accounting, maritime security, insurance, securities and other regulatory compliance matters. He specializes in internal investigations for companies and their committees; privately held companies and non-profit organizations, including SOX whistleblower complaints, employee dishonesty and auditing and monitoring compliance programs. These investigations arise out of various U.S. Attorney’s offices, other divisions and offices within the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the New York Stock Exchange; the National Association of Securities Dealers; the FDIC; offices of Inspectors General and Attorneys General.

Dick was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He was admitted to the bar in Massachusetts and Georgia in 1974, after receiving his degrees from Emory University School of Law (J.D. 1974) and the University of Notre Dame (A.B. 1970). He also is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Dick was appointed a Special Assistant Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority to investigate and pursue claims of contracting abuse arising out of the Big Dig construction project.

Dick achieved an AV Peer Review rating of Martindale-Hubbard and has been selected as a “Super Lawyer” by Boston Magazine. He frequently lectures and holds leadership positions in non-profit organizations, including the Legal Advocacy and Resource Center and the Coast Guard Foundation, Inc.

Dick has been the Firm's Managing Partner and is currently a member of its Management Committee.
