Stewart F. Grossman specializes in business and bankruptcy reorganization, "workouts," corporate transactions, and commercial litigation. He has served as a Bankruptcy Trustee Assignee under assignment for benefit of creditors and state court Receiver in thousands of cases. Stewart has acted as counsel to debtors, creditors' committees, trustees and receivers. He has reorganized businesses and individuals, liquidated tangible and intangible assets, negotiated complicated disputes, and litigated when necessary irresolvable commercial situations.

Stewart was born in New York City, New York. He was admitted to the Massachusetts bar in 1973, after receiving his degree from Boston College Law School (J.D., cum laude, 1973) and American University (B.S. 1969). He also is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Stewart is a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Since 1995, Stewart has served on the panel of Chapter 7 Trustees for the District of Massachusetts. In both 2002 and 2003, he received the Trustee of the Year Award from the United States Department of Justice, Boston, Massachusetts, U. S. Trustee's office.

Stewart is President of the Red Auerbach Youth Foundation, Inc., which sponsors a variety of sports and recreational programs for boys and girls throughout Massachusetts with an emphasis on its motto "To Participate Is To Win", combining sports with educational and social components. He has also served on the Board of Trustees of River Court Condominiums in Cambridge, MA since 2001 and has been the Chairman and Treasurer. In 2005, Stewart was appointed a member of the Board of Trustees of the Boston Ballet and currently serves on the Investment, Finance and Audit Committees. He has served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Alumni Council of Boston College Law School and was a member of the Executive Committee from 1991 to 2001, and has served on the Board of Directors of the Anti-Defamation League and the Combined Jewish Philanthropies. Stewart has been named a Massachusetts Super Lawyer each year since 2006, and is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.

Stewart is AV-rated® by the Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory, its highest rating for legal ability and professional ethics and has been named one of Boston's Best Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Lawyers for 2011.
